Australia, Sri Lanka sign Trade and Investment framework agreement

Australia and Sri Lanka have signed a bilateral Trade and Investment Framework Arrangement during the Australia Prime Minister’s visit to Sri Lanka.

The agreement was signed during the meeting between the visiting Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe this afternoon at the Temple Trees.

The arrangement will establish regular senior officials’ talks to facilitate trade and investment. The Framework follows on from the Joint Declaration on Enhanced Cooperation signed during President Maithripala Sirisena’s visit to Australia.

Development Strategies and International Trade Ministry Secretary Chandani Wijewardana signed the agreement representing Sri Lanka while Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Bryce Hutchesson signed the agreement representing Australia.
