Fourth Round of Korea-Australia FTA Kicks off in Seoul

15 March 2010

A fourth round of free trade negotiations between Korea and Australia is scheduled to open in Seoul, Monday.

The two sides will focus on pending issues from past discussions while trying to make progress in agriculture a main point of interest for Korea.

A finalized Korea-Australia free trade agreement is expected to strengthen cooperation in the energy and mineral resources sectors as well as boost bilateral trade that stood at 20 billion US dollars in 2009.

Korea’s trade ministry announced earlier this year that it aims to conclude the FTA talks by the end of 2010.
