Talks on free trade agreement among CU and EFTA countries held in Astana

The sections of the draft agreement on trade in goods, trade facilitation procedures, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, intellectual property protection rules, as well as public procurement are being discussed as part of the eleventh round of the negotiations, the Kazakh Ministry of Economy and Budget Planning said today.

"Concluding the agreement will foster the development of the trade relations between the Customs Union (CU) and EFTA countries, as well as create favorable conditions for promoting the products in EFTA countries’ markets and draw investments to the CU and EFTA countries," the ministry added.

The negotiations on concluding a free trade agreement among the member-states of the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation and the countries of the European Free Trade Association will continue until January 30.

The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) was established in 1960 with the aim of creating a free trade zone.
