TTIP negotiating mandate published

TTIP NEGOTIATING MANDATE PUBLISHED

The European Council today published the negotiating mandate for the proposed transatlantic trade and investment partnership (TTIP). It seems that political pressure grew so strong that secret negotiations and the dismantling of democracy simply became unjustifiable. The “Stop TTIP” – alliance ensured that 350.000 signatures against TTIP and CETA were gathered within just two days.

The “Stop-TTIP”–alliance has since long been campaigning for the TTIP-negotiation mandate to be published. A first step towards more transparency has finally been ensured – but it’s by far not enough! The complete texts must be published so that critical passages can be openly debated to ensure that the dismantling of democratic processes and the weakening of reliable standards are prevented. The EU’s decision-makers will not approach citizens at their own initiative. We need to further strengthen the public’s protest and continue insisting. Every day thousands of signatories add their support to www.stop-ttip.org – and we need a lot more. Share this news and let’s continue to build pressure to Stop TTIP and CETA!
