CAN and EU: Negotiations to Start Soon
Lima, Mar 6 2007 (Prensa Latina) — The Community of Andean Nations and the European Union reaffirmed the promise Tuesday to begin negotiations as soon as possible to sign an economic association agreement, the CAN press office reported after meeting on Monday evening.
The meeting was headed by Bolivian International Economic Relations Assistant Minister Aldo Ruiz, as CAN representative, and EU Foreign Affairs and Trade Directors Tomas Dupla and Joao Aguilar Machado.
The sides highlighted the importance of the agreement, which will have mainstays of political dialogue, cooperation, and trade.
They also emphasized that they expect this agreement to contribute to the struggle against poverty, and to achieve the millennium development goals.
