Chile, Turkey finish FTA talks

Chile and Turkey finished the last round of negotiations on a bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA), announced Friday the Chilean Foreign Ministry.

The two countries have inked a memorandum on signing a FTA in Turkey’s Ankara during the latest round of talks.

Turkey agreed to reduce the taxes on importing Chilean wines from 70 percent to 50 percent, according to Carlos Furche, head of the International Economic Relations of the Chilean Foreign Ministry, Xinhua reported.

Chilean exports to Turkey were increased to 269 million U.S. dollars in 2008. The main Chilean products exported to Turkey were mining products, which accounted for 87 percent of the total, while the industrial products, 7.7 percent.
