EU-Moldova Association Agreement implementation delayed

The parliament of Moldova considered in 2015 only one-third of projects stipulated by the plan for the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said Friday.

"We have a large lag in the implementation of the Association Agreement," Filip said.

According to the prime minister, the government submitted to the parliament only 32 projects out of 100 in 2015.

Moldovan Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu said in turn that the delay in the implementation of the Agreement was related to the political crisis, which hit the country last year.

Moldova has been engulfed in protests since September 2015, with rallies erupting sporadically. A coalition of opposition forces — Socialists, Our Party and the Civic Platform Dignity and Truth (DA) — has been demanding the resignation of the Moldovan president, the prime minister and the chief prosecutor, while also calling for early parliamentary elections and prompt action to tackle corruption.
