Gulf states next FTA goal

Gulf States Next FTA Goal

18 Apr 2006

New Zealand is to forge ahead with trying to secure a free trade deal with Gulf states.

The Cabinet decided today to express formally to the Gulf Cooperation Council that it is interested in an FTA with the council.

New Zealand was urged to enter tree trade talks with the six Gulf countries in the council when Trade Minister Phil Goff visited Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates last month.

Miss Clark said New Zealand’s interest would be expressed to the council later this month.
