Implementation of FTA with Indonesia urged

ISLAMABAD : Emphasising the need for enhanced trade relations between Pakistan and Indonesia, the Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari on Thursday observed that the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two needs to be implemented in letter and spirit for mutual growth and prosperity.

The Chairman Senate expressed these views in a meeting with 10-member Indonesian Parliamentary delegation at Parliament House on Thursday.
He said that the trade volume between the two is not up to the mark and there was dire need to take initiatives for further enhancing trade cooperation.

Both sides also agreed to increase parliamentary contacts and linkages to learn from each other experiences. Chairman Senate apprised the delegation about the Parliamentary history, steps taken for strengthening democracy and role and functions of Senate and National Assembly besides the elections procedures and other important matters. Leader of the delegation Miss Elviana apprised the chairman about the purpose of the visit.

Members of the Delegation expressed their satisfaction to visit Pakistan and thanked the Chairman Senate for the warm welcome at Parliament House.
