Chisinau. The negotiations over a free trade zone between Moldova and the EU will begin this summer and end in 2015. This is when the two sides will establish actual economic relations. And only then, the final chapter of much broader negotiations – that for the association between Moldova and the EU, could be closed, Moldavskie Vedomosti newspaper reads.
Meanwhile, local producers could not help worrying over the terms of the free trade treaty. If the national authorities were to miss something during the negotiations, Moldova would accumulate more losses than gains.
According to economic expert Viorel Chivriga, there was a real danger of more competitive European goods flooding the Moldovan market, which would eventually destroy local producers.
