KARACHI (APP) - Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) will recommend inclusion of more Pakistani items from various sectors in the second phase of free trade agreement (FTA) between Pakistan and China.
This was stated by the Chief Executive of TDAP Tariq Iqbal Puri while chairing a meeting of leading textile exporters here Tuesday.

Federal Advisor Textile Dr.Mirza Ikhtiar Baig and Chairman Gul Ahmed Textile, Bashir Ali Muhammad also attended the meeting.

Tariq Puri said that the government should only recommend those items for tariff reduction where Pakistani companies have competitive edge and have exportable surplus so that our exports could increase under FTA.

During the meeting TDAP made a presentation on the potential of trade with China and recommended additional items from the various sectors for zero rating of the Customs duty by the government of China in the second phase of FTA.

Dr. Baig informed that there is great potential to enhance the export of our textile products and China has already started buying yarn, fabric and other textile products from Pakistan to cater to the need of their large domestic market.
