Mongolia plans to sign interim trade agreement with Eurasian Economic Union in June

Mongolia’s interim trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is scheduled to be signed at the next meeting of the EAEU’s main governing body in June, Russian ambassador to Mongolia Alexey Evsikov told TASS.

"If the internal procedures in the EAEU [member] countries and Mongolia are successfully completed, the interim trade agreement between them can be signed at the next meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which is scheduled for June 2025. In addition to Mongolia, a number of other countries are working on creating a free-trade zone with the EAEU," the Russian diplomat said.

According to him, the respective agreement with the United Arab Emirates is already ready, and it is planned to be signed by the end of this year. The agreement with Indonesia is in the final phase. Contacts with Egypt on the creation of a free-trade zone are continuing, and a working group has been formed to prepare an agreement with Tunisia.

“Consultations with India are actively underway. Thailand has announced its readiness to move forward in the negotiation process on the creation of a free-trade zone. Also, a full-fledged free trade agreement between the EAEU and Iran entered into force on May 15,” added the Russian ambassador to Mongolia.

To note, Armenia is a member in the Eurasian Economic Union.
