Minister of Foreign Trade says Ecuador likely to negotiate bilateral association agreement with EU
Lima, Set. 11 (ANDINA).— Ecuador would agree with Peru and Colombia to negotiate a bilateral Association Agreement between the Andean Community (CAN) and the European Union (EU), stated Thursday Peru’s minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Mercedes Aráoz.
"Colombia, Peru and Ecuador agree somewhat to implement bilateral negotiations with EU according to the criteria that each country has", she stated.
Tomorrow (Friday), Ecuador’s president Rafael Correa will arrive in Lima to meet his Peruvian counterpart, Alan García, in order to promote the strengthening of CAN and extend its objectives beyond the commercial activities.
"At this meeting, both presidents will probably discuss about Peru and Colombia proposal to implement a bilateral Association Agreement between the European Union and Andean countries ready to negotiate", she stated.
