Pak-Bangladesh traders stress on FTA

DHAKA: The traders of Pakistan and Bangladesh have underscored the need of their two countries entering into a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) besides initiating a direct sea-route between the two countries.

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s visiting delegation in a meeting held here with the officials of Bangladesh Federation of Chambers of commerce and Industry assured them all cooperation in textile sector.

KCCI delegation further told that if the two countries get into a free trade agreement, Pakistan could supply raw materials to Bangladesh ready- made-garments industry at cheaper prices.

President KCCI, Khalid Feroze told that the two countries could greatly benefit from each other’s experience in engineering, education, telecommunication and data communication sectors also beside cooperation and collaboration in textile industry.

Bangladeshi traders offered joint ventures in molasses processing and lime mining sectors besides briefing the Pakistani traders about the possibilities of investment in Bangladesh composite textile and engineering sectors.
