Ukraine and Israel agree to intensify free-trade area talks

Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Feb. 11 – Ukraine and Israel have agreed to intensify their talks over the creation of a free trade area (FTA), Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlov Klimkin has said.

"We signed a plan of consultations. Contacts have been very close and productive. My counterpart and I are standing in front of you as the heads of a bilateral commission which has a packed agenda for its next meeting. A key aspect of our agreement is to intensify the talks over the creation of an FTA between Ukraine and Israel. It is important for us that this FTA also covered investment. In the contemporary concept, this is one of the most maneuverable FTAs," Klimkin told a press conference held jointly with his Israeli counterpart Avigdor Lieberman in Kiev on Wednesday.
