USITC Report on India (#2) now available

The United States International Trade Commission (USITC) has published a report on “Trade and Investment Polices in India, 2014–2015” (Find the press release here). While the document compliments an increased “interest in improving IPR policy transparency and more willingness to engage with the United States in this area” by India’s new government, it criticizes that no substantial novel IP laws have been enacted. Interestingly, voices of NGOs such as Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) have been included in the report, calling for India to continue its strict patentability standards to serve as the “pharmacy of the developing world” and the delinkage of R&D from drug prices.
