Namibia to sign trade related facility financing agreement

Namibia will soon sign the Trade Related Facility Financing Agreement with the SADC Secretariat to enable the country to develop a plan for implementing the EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

International relations minister for Namibia Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said this Thursday during the Namibia-European Union Dialogue meeting in Windhoek.

The dialogue is meant to exchange information; foster mutual understanding; facilitate the establishment of agreed priorities; and strengthen cooperation.

She said that Namibia has ratified the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) after signing it on June 10, 2016, in Kasane, Botswana.

“The implementation process of the EPA has commenced. Namibia is in the process of perfecting the implementation of the whole agreement,” Nandi-Ndaitwah said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said the Trade Related Facility Financing Agreement will also enable Namibia to deal with other challenges such as Technical Standards and Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures.
