FTA with Turkey is Ukraine’s key priority for 2018: Ambassador

Ukraine’s Ambassador to Turkey Andrii Sybiha considers the conclusion of the agreement on a free trade area (FTA) with Turkey as one of the key priorities of 2018.

He wrote about this on Twitter on January 4.

"Turkey was Ukraine’s third trade partner in 2017 - and this was in the absence of the agreement on a free trade area. The current level of bilateral trade and economic cooperation does not correspond to mutual potential - the FTA agreement is one of the key priorities in 2018," the ambassador wrote.

The diplomat also cited the data compiled by the Economic Development Ministry of the Top 15 largest partner countries for the export of goods from Ukraine. According to this list, in January-October 2017, the share of exports of the Ukrainian goods to the EU was 40.2%, to Russia - 9.3%, Turkey - 5.7%, India - 5.2%, China - 4.6%.
