Dhaka. Bilateral relations between India and Pakistan are posing "threat" to SAFTA, the apex business chamber of Bangladesh said on Thursday.

"It (relations between India and Pakistan) threatens the whole SAFTA concept," Mir Nasir Hossain, president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) said.

He said the functional procedures have already delayed the implementation of the trade agreement from July.

The South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) agreement was reached after three years of tough negotiations among the South Asian countries.

The two countries locked horns in the recent SAARC foreign ministers conference in Dhaka.
