Venezuela opposes free trade agreement between CAN and European Union

by Patrick J. O’Donoghue

Speaking about Venezuela’s possible to return to the Andean Community of Nations (CAN), President Chavez says the organization must go through an integral transformation for Venezuela to think about returning.

Chavez made the statement at the 13th round of business and State purchases in Caracas.

Bolivian President Evo Morales, Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa and even Colombian President Alvaro Uribe are now saying the same, Chavez points out.

Chavez warns CAN to reject a free-trade agreement with the European Union (EU) as unacceptable in the present circumstances.

The Bolivian President has told Chavez that he agrees and cannot accept the free-trade agreement with the EU.

Venezuela has criticized free trade agreements that several CAN member countries have signed individually with the USA.
