    Trading places: Quebec leads charge for Canada-EU free trade agreement

    Actually, I hate to burst your bubble, but the free movement of labour will only be temporary, not permanent. Canada will NOT be in a political union with the EU.

    Israel signs free-trade accord with South American bloc

    Israel signed a free-trade agreement with the Mercosur trade bloc yesterday, making it the first country outside Latin America to do so.

    The agreement, which was signed in Montevideo, Uruguay, is expected to double bilateral trade within three years, Eli Yishai, Israel’s minister of trade, industry and labor, said in a statement on the ministry’s Web site. Trade between Israel and the Mercosur countries, which include Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, is currently about $1.1 billion ccda.

    ``I see the agreement as a tool that will allow access to important markets with high potential for Israeli industry,’’ Yishai said.

    The free market is a shame to penetrate markets, destroy competing industry and gamble on markets, while depreciating living standards, and hence long-term markets.
    S. America has been "developing" for two hundred years. It is obvious the market will fail to develop these countries to the level of what was considered the first world.

    Central America and the European Union resume negotiations for an Association Agreement

    An Association Agreement is the most advanced type of agreement that the EU can engage in with a country or a region in the world. It is proposed to partners with which the EU intends to deepen a strong relationship, based on mutual trust and on common values and principals. The future Agreement will give a legal framework to all aspects of EU’s relations with Central America. It is organized in three chapters, namely Political Dialogue, Cooperation and Trade ccip.

    The European Commission negotiates on behalf of the EU Member States a “region-to-region” Association Agreement with Central America. Central America is represented by one of its countries acting as a spokesperson on a rotating basis.

    Costa Rica seems to have made multiple free trade agreements recently. They have now finished this agreement with China, and just recently finished another with Singapore.

    They’re also part of multiple operating agreements, including DR-CAFTA with the US and a Central American FTA with Chile and Panama, and has bilateral free trade agreements with Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

    They are also part of the Central American negotiations for a trade agreement with the EU. That’s quite a lot for a small country.

    As an aside, doesn’t such a large number of agreements make a country notable enough to appear on the side menu to the left.

    I would like in the next future to comment about your Articles especially those dealing with Bilateral Investment Agreements. Notamment les Accords bilatéraux de promotion et protection de l’investissement. Ce que je peux dire, pour le moment, au sujet de la justice arbitrale internationale (CIRDI, Tribunal du NAFTA/ALENA etc...) c’est que cette justice a surtout garanti aux investisseurs étrangers une grande protection juridique de leurs investissements établis, entre autres, dans les pays en développement comme les pays de l’Amérique Latine. C’est ce qui a conduit, par exemple, tout récemment au Retrait de certains de ces derniers pays du CIRDI.

    Haiti à adhérer à l’ALBA, car le président prévale fut (convoquer) invité peu de temps après par le président Bush, à la maison Blanche, à ce sujet.Haiti est un pays qui n’a jamais fait passer ses intérêt avant sa digne et sa fière, c’est ce que démontre son histoire. Haiti a tout intérêt à assumer l’axe trilatéral, car aujourd’hui la contre partie est quasiment inexistante, comme l’a dis P.preval "on s’adresse à eux, ils ceux sentes eux aussi, redevable à Haiti". Cuba: en pleine guerre froide, Haiti a rejeté la proposition des Etat-Unis d’installation d’une base militaire sur sont territoire en échange de gros investi ment dans l’infrastructure du pays.(Porto rico accepta elle est en bénéfice encore) et pour le Venezuela: l’indépendance vénézuélienne fut obtenue par le soutien des troupes de Simon Bolivar, qui a organisé une expédition militaire vers le Venezuela en 1815 et 1816 contre les Espagnols.     "Perverted market?" Then, what about the auto manufacturers such as Ford and their effort and sensitivity toward the U.S. buyers in the past? Analze the kind of automobiles U.S. auto manufacturers produced in comparison to their Asian countries. I’ve driven Ford brands since 1978 for 3 decades, pinto, T-bird, Aviator Continental. What a shame! U.S auto makers and union employees CAN do better job by learning from this small country like Korea and their automobiles but failed so far; not just finger pointed with filty mouth. At least Korea took hard ways to learn and reach where they are now. Any markets will open for better products with accountability, revealing desing and beauty of automobiles.

    Ford suck big time!!! In the early 80’s, I drove a Ford and it was a terrible, big piece of junk that I swore I’ll never drive a Ford ever again. I would either purchase Hyundai or Toyota. And American auto makers wonder why they need government assistance to slow down going belly-up, LOL.

    Je suis content car j’avais fait une étude en ce sens (clauses d’investissement, garanties, règles d’origine, propriété intellectuelle, politique nationale), très critique des APE. Elle fut refusée par la Commission comme étant "anti-européenne".

    The FTA is not yet ratified/in-force between Pakistan and India (I don’t know if Pakistan, India or both have not ratified/enforced; someone got info?), so it is only "s" (signed) between them.
    For the other states it is in force (including Bangladesh-India trade), albeit with some transition periods for LDCs.
