The crashing of food prices doesnt help the farmer, buddy. Do you suggest that all the states nationalize agricuture? If so, it’d be hard to keep it efficient. I think that the free market just takes time to grow and prosper, and although you are right in that politics and economic should be separated, where, then, is the incentive for the farmer to produce himself out of business? Perhaps if transnationals agreed to do something for the good of humanity, they’d use a portion of their massive profits to buy the food from the farmer (increasing demand for his production), thus keeping him in business, and then give the food to someone else.
The free market works, just not instantaneously. People in these third world countries need to work on getting a comparative advantage and filling their domestic markets, in order to create sustainable domestic economies and not foreign dependence. With that said, we also should think about getting some of the transnational companies out of there, so that they can figure it out for themselves. Although this may initially produce hunger/economic downturns, this is because we are removing the illegitimate (and unsustainable) growth and income. If we make them establish a proper foundation for competitiveness in first their own market, and perhaps later the world market, they will then grow and prosper in a sustainable manner.
The information for them is waiting, they just need to learn it and apply it. As long as there are transportation costs, there is the possibility for a domestic economy to flourish. They should be taking examples from the current kings of production in whatever industry fits their resources, and then establish similar organizations to the best of their ability. Then, BAM!: You have domestic pofit and subsequent domestic investment.
Social welfare in a free market is tricky: it depends on the willingness of those that are successful to CHOOSE to help their communities, because as soon as the government starts radically taxing and redistributing wealth (thus removing their freedoms of choice), the incentives to create wealth in the first place are destroyed. Robin Hood was a criminal, and there was a reason why.
As far as ALBA goes— what happens when one of these countries has a depression, or in some other way runs out of their resources? What if Venezuela runs out of oil? What does it have to offer the rest of the community? It becomes a leech. I dont see a way to fix this kind of naturally occuring problem, and therefore see this on the road to eventual collapse. I dont usually look to this comment board, I’m just writing a paper about Nicaragua and Ortega’s recent policies, and saw ALBA referred to in one of my sources. The philpines should not import such waste. But they need also for their own waste better concepts. Landfills are no solution.

Me alegra como a todo peruano la creación del Ministerio del ambiente. Claro está que a falta de una institución como esta los extraños han estado y siguen apropiándose y abusando de la fe publica peruana, es mas; empleando a peruanos que a cambio reciben sueldos degradantes a la persona. Por mencionar en el sector minero y forestal. Es que, empresarios EXTRANJEROS se hayan apropiado lícitamente o ilícitamente no es conocido, lo cierto es que exportan de nuestras minas al extranjero, concretamente en Ancash, en la ciudad de Cajapampa-provincia de Yungay en Mancos; asimismo en Jangas, Yungar - distritos de Huaraz y muchos otros. Por mencionar la venta indiscriminada de los arboles en nuestra selva por empresarios extranjeros. En la Costa en las ribera de nuestro mar Pacifico, extranjeros recolectan los productos marinos para negociarlos en Europa y otros continentes del mundo.
El Ministerio como bien fue dicho anteriormente, "que tenga autonomía sancionadora, fiscalizadora a la hora de ejercer sus funciones en el país". Una buena propuesta aportara a poner en claro que el Perú NO ES un País desorganizado donde el extraño, no debe ilegalmente apropiarse, sin por ello; dar y sanar cuentas de daños causados a la población respectiva y las leyes peruanas. Recordemos que aún los grandes países en su historia, han tenido que pagar o restituirlos en su totalidad (los daños ocasionados).
ADELANTE SEÑORES y muchos éxitos y podamos tener en este nuevo Ministerio a los responsables de hacer del Perú un País donde se velan por sus propiedades y el derecho de su población.

Me parece súper interesante el artículo. Pero, para una página tan radical, me parece un poco contradctorio que hagan publicidad gratuita a Firefox. Es cierto que es un software gratuito, pero no es el único ni el mejor. Es la competencia de Internet Explorer de Microsoft (una transnaciona) y evidentemente eso puede ser algo bueno, pero de esa manera se convierte también ha firefox en una transnacional, no hay que olvidar que es el heredero de Netscape. En todo caso, creo que mi comentario no está para nada relacionado con el artículo, en cuanto a éste, creo que si bien hay una desnacionalización de los procesos y eso puede parecer algo negativo. también hay que reconocer que gran parte de los tribunales nacionales(sobre todo en latinoamérica) son lentos y muchas veces corruptos. Entonces, el tema no es si el arbitraje es una bestia negra, sino más bien, por qué el sistema tradicional de resolución de conflictos jurídicos(proceso) no es compatible con el comercio internacional.

Lo qu usted señala no tiene nada de cierto el peru ya ha firmano numerosos BIT’s y NAFTAS con diferentes estados como Bolivia el cual ha expropiado varios de empresas que generan rentas en estados tan indomables que creen en la soberanía a costas del dinero de otros. Me parece que Estados Unidos busque la proteccion de sus inversiones a través de la demanda de la corte CIADI la cual es un tribunal arbitral y sin duda el tema de la expropiacion indirecta es un mecanismo que la nueva doctrina ha descubierto y muy por el contrario desearía que usted logre informarse sobre lo expropiacion indirecta. Lo que el TLC y su Bit incluiod busca proteger son aquellos actos desmedidos o que no contemplen una adecuada reparacion tal y como lo señala nuestra legislacion es decir lo que busca es que todo se haga conforme a drecho y no leyes sustentadas en el interes nacional tal relativas como el interes particular.

El sistema economico impuesto y creado en los tiempos del "Cesar" Augusto Pinochet hasta ahora han permitido toda estas series de barbaries en la clase social trabajadora de Chile, un país con un sistema macro economico que es resaltado fuera de nuestras fronteras, pero que en su interior ha hecho trizas a los trabajadores de nuestro País y pensar que la gran mayoria apoyamos con todas nuestras esperanzas al famoso "arco iris" de colores que desde hace bastantes años definitivamente se trasformo en un arco iris en BLANCO Y NEGRO. Mi pregunta es ¿Quien hara algo para revertir esta situación que afecta a gran parte de nuestro querido País?.
Un País grande es aquel que brinda protección, apoyo, JUSTO y que si le va bién, tiene que irle bién a todos, no a unos pocos aprovechadores y verdaderos "chupa sangre " de los trabajadores de este hemoso País.-

I think the minister lacked insight knowledge as what EU was really offering and now look at the consequence of signing the EPA then the Interim Partnership Agreement by Fiji and PNG. They should be ashamned for allowing EU into the fragile PACER. EU certanily is digging deeper into the Pacific through the Cotonou Agreement. Where does the Pacific go from here? Pacific Island nations need to realise that the national members need to be critically informed before they blindly sign agreements that is putting the Pacific at stake to the developed countries. For how long is it going to be like this? One possible start is invest in education!

It should be Obvious. We were sold out by the so-called politicians. We built these companies, then our politicians let them send the high paying jobs out to try and squeeze more out, thinking companies and politicians could just glide right through. It worked short term but now we all pay. How infantile. Aristotle was right long ago when he said " The Best Political Environment One could hope for would be the middle Class" This was true then and now. You have a bunch of extremely rich who’s only concern is Power. Here is a thought. Have two terms all offices. When you leave office you only get what pension you deserve. Well, with this article, I will say the writer should investigate further, I don’t believe that a seasoned administrator like our formidable Governor Tinubu can do that to humanity. Something must have gone wrong somewhere, Is the money meant for building a hut or transport fare to unknown destination or for accommodayion.
It is quite unfortunate that we the Yorubas who were the advocate of the happenings in the Niger Delta region can also act this way instead of proper resettlement of the displaced occupant. I still maintained that my able former Governor Tinubu can not do that and there is still continuity of his regime. Governor Raji will surely see to this because he is a man of high repute who has respect for human right.
