Bolivia Abandons Trade Agreement

The Andean nation gave no explanation for why it wishes to replace the free trade agreement it has with Mexico

Beginning June 7, Bolivia will terminate its free trade agreement with Mexico which has existed since 1994. No reason was given for why the Andean nation is taking this step. It was, however, revealed that the agreement would be replaced by the Economic Cooperation Agreement wherein commercial exchange between both nations will be restricted. According to information provided by Banxico, the trade balance between Mexico and Bolivia during the first quarter of the year registered a surplus for Mexico of $7,657 million.
