Cooperation between SADC and SACU

The Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community, Dr Tomaz Augusto Salomao, says exchanges made during his meeting with the Southern African Customs Union Executive Secretary, Tswelopele Moremi, will increase cooperation between SADC and SACU.
The meeting took place in Windhoek last week, to break the ground for the establishment fo a Task Force between the two bodies to uphold cooperation with the ultimate goal of promoting economic intergration.
Dr Salomao and Moremi indentified specitic areas of cooperation for consideration, such as information sharing at all levels and for the Task Force to develop an agenda of issues for discussion and a framework for cooperation.
Following SACU`s participation at the SADC Consultative Conference, that took place in Windhoek in April, both Executive Secretaries agreed to arrange a meeting with the SADC and SACU Ministers, to brief them on the agreed framework of cooperation.
