Council of ALBA Ministers to Meet

Caracas, Jun 4 (Prensa Latina) The country members of the Bolivarian Alternative of the Americas (ALBA) prepare Monday the first meeting of the Council of Ministers, created during the 5th Summit of that integration mechanism.

According to statements by President Hugo Chavez, the meeting, which will take place in this capital on Wednesday, will stress ALBA progress in a new geo-political space in the international arena.

The statesman talked Sunday night during a supporting act of an ALBA Declaration for the beginning of Televisora Venezolana Social (TEVES) and the Chavez government’s decisions in the administration of the national radio-electrical space.

The ceremony was attended by Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, Cuba’s Minister for Foreign Investment and Economic Collaboration Marta Lomas and Bolivia embassy’s charge d’affaires in Caracas Jorge Alvarado.

The Venezuelan governor stated that the proof of ALBA growing is to strengthen ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation among the member countries: Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia and Nicaragua.

Chavez also talked of the signing of 300 projects between Cuban and Venezuelan governments, from small initiatives to projects of great importance like the creation of a submarine cable of optical fiber from the country to Cuba.
