The agreement on a free trade area (FTA) with the CIS will take effect on September 23, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
"Ukraine has taken a step in the process of the ratification of the FTA agreement with the CIS, and this agreement will take effect on September 23," Azarov said at a meeting with Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko in Kyiv on Monday.
At the same time, the premier noted that this had been marred by the introduction of a vehicle recycling tax by the Russian government, which also affected Ukrainian products.
