Sri Lanka to strategically expand free trade deals: President
Sri Lanka will expand free trade deal networks strategically and also simplify import duty structure for SMEs to access raw materials, President Anura Disanayake said presenting a budget for 2025.
“Sri Lanka will work to expand its free trade agreements network [ja-la-ya pu-lul ki-ri-ma-ta], in order to increase our exports of goods and services in a big way,” Disanayake said in parliament.
“We will also amend the Customs Act and bring in a new one [na-va thee-ru ba-du ra-mu-vak].”
A new import tax structure will be introduced, he said, and Sri Lana will expand beyond the current 44 double taxation agreements.
