Sri Lanka tiene acuerdos preferenciales y de libre comercio con India, Pakistán, Irán, Egipto, Singapur e Israel. Actualmente está trabajando para profundizar su acuerdo con la India y transformarlo en un tratado mucho más abarcativo.
También integra el SAFTA (el acuerdo en pos de un Área de Libre Comercio de Asia del Sur) y la BIMSTEC, que apunta a la creación de un TLC regional.
