China, Pakistan Fta to be Finalised Soon: Finance Advisor

ISLAMABAD, May 2 Asia Pulse - Finance Advisor to Prime Minister Dr Salman Shah on Thursday said free trade arrangement (FTA) between Pakistan and China would be finalised soon. Talking with PTV he said, "We are working on free trade arrangement with China as it will open huge market for Pakistani products."

Presently, Pakistan’s imports from China are high as compared to exports, he added. He said the recent visit by Chinese premier to Pakistan has helped to further enhance bilateral trade between the two countries.

Replying to a question about the reopening of Pakistan-China border for land trade via Karakorum Highway, he said it would boost bilateral trade activities between the two countries.

Salman Shah said custom facilities would be improved by providing modern equipment to authorities on the border to facilitate importers and exporters.

Land routes through Pakistan would link China to the Arabian Sea and other countries, which was presently the largest growing economy in the world, he added.
