EAEU, UAE discuss issues for speedy conclusion of talks on economic partnership agreement
MINSK. Aug 21 (Interfax) - Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Trade Minister Andrei Slepnev discussed issues regarding the conclusion of negotiations on an economic partnership agreement with the United Arab Emirates with the country’s foreign trade minister on Tuesday, the EEC press service reported.
"A meeting between Trade Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrei Slepnev and Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi was held on August 20 in the format of a video conference," the press release said.
"The main issues of negotiations on signing an economic partnership agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and the UAE, the resolution of which will facilitate the speedy substantive conclusion of the negotiation process, were discussed in the course of the meeting," Sleznev was quoted as saying in the press release.
The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council made the decision to begin negotiations with the UAE in December 2022. Three rounds of negotiations have been held so far.
