Gov’t Seeks ’Kaesong Provision’ in Future FTAs
SEOUL, Dec. 13 (Yonhap) — The government said Monday that it will seek provisions in future free trade talks that will permit preferential duties for products from the Kaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea so that they will be treated as if produced in the South.
Speaking to reporters, Kim Han-soo, director general of the Trade Ministry’s free trade agreement (FTA) bureau, the effective conclusion of a deal with Singapore will be used as a marker for future negotiations.
