New deal or no deal!

NEW DEAL or NO DEAL!

Trade Ministers to Meet in San Francisco to Negotiate the Largest Trade Pact since NAFTA

The Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a new framework among eight (8) nations: Australia, Brunei, Chile, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, Vietnam, and the United States, could establish new parameters for corporations to exploit workers here and abroad for profit

We Must Stand Up and...

SAY NO to offshoring American jobs!
SAY NO to gutting the environment!
SAY NO to more unsafe imports!

BE THERE AND BE HEARD!

RALLY FOR NEW FAIR TRADE AGENDA
JUNE 14, 2010, 10am
St. Patrick’s Catholic Church
756 Mission St. (btwn 3rd & 4th St.), San Francisco

WHAT
Fair trade rally with speakers and hundreds of attendees from San Francisco and Bay Area organizations. TPP trade talks are a perfect time and place to unite for fair trade!
The rally will be followed by a short march to the site of the TPP talks to let trade negotiators know that we deserve a fair deal or no deal!

WHO
Art Pulaski, President, California Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO
Carl Pope, former Executive Director, Sierra Club
 Gayle McLaughlin, Mayor, Richmond
Ross Mirakimi, District 5 Supervisor, San Francisco
Tim Paulson, Executive Director, San Francisco Labor Council
Anuradha Mittal, Executive Director, Oakland Institute
George Davis, Vice President, California Farmers Union
Victor Menotti, Executive Director, International Forum on Globalization
Zeke Grader, Executive Director, Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen’s Associations
Tim Robertson, Director, California Fair Trade Coalition
Willie Adams, International Secretary-Treasurer, International Longshore and Warehouse Union (invited)
Hundreds of activists and supporters and YOU!

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
President Obama campaigned on a platform for fair trade. TPP talks—the most significant negotiations that the Obama Administration has participated in—will be the opportunity to measure how he lives up to his campaign promises for fair trade, an issue that continues to decide election outcomes in many swing states. It is imperative that people take action to pressure for new trade policies, since current US trade policy, exploits communities, labor, and the environment, all under the guise of "growth."
