US-EAC trade pact: Players fear East Africa could get raw deal
With the East African Community under pressure to sign the Economic Partnership agreement with Europe, pressure is emerging from elsewhere. The US is also pursuing its own trade pact with EAC. Civil society however warn that there are some clauses in the US pact that will work against EAC for instance unlimited right of profit repatriation by American companies investing in the region.
