Call for an Alternative Investment Model

130 social activists, campaigners, farmers, trade unionists, academics and lawyers from Africa, Asia, Latin and North America and Europe came together between the 5 and 8 of November 2011 in Brussels on the occasion of the Week of Action on Investment Treaties and for an Alternative Investment Regime.

This 4-day event included a Forum, strategy meetings, a Debate with the European Commission, a Session in the European Parliament and an expert workshop. It was organised by Seattle to Brussels (S2B) network, Network for Justice in Global Investment (NJGI), EU-ASEAN FTA network, Campaign against BITs and ICSID Latin America, Hemispheric Social Alliance and Europe-Latin America biregional network Enlazando Alternativas.

During the Week of Action, a Call for an Alternative Investment Model was drafted and is now open for organisational signatures. You can find the Call attached with the initial individual signatures from some of the participants.

If your organisation would like to join the Call, please send full name of the organisation and country by 7 December to ceciliaolivet@tni.org.

In the coming weeks, we will be sending a report from the events as well as videos from some of the sessions and video interviews.
