Civil society and faith based organisations asked to unite and kick against signing of Economic Partnership Agreement

A member of the Socialist Forum of Ghana and Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt, has asked civil society groups, Trades Unions and faith based organisations to strongly kick against the signing of the Economic Partnership Agreement, EPA.

He said the EPA is another form of colonial strategy intended to further pin Africa under the shackles of poverty, dependence and perpetual economic slavery.

Mr Pratt said if Africa wants to enhance trade, it should first encourage trade among member countries by removing all trade barriers and put in place a formidable Africa standby force to deal with problems facing Africans.

He said it is pathetic that it took France to hold a summit on a major African problem like the threat of Boko Haram and wondered what African countries are up to.

Mr Pratt said this when GBC organised a programme on the 50th Anniversary of the African Union at Broadcasting House in Accra.

He said lack of unity is the bane behind Africa’s woes.

Citing the petrochemical industry, Mr Pratt expressed worry about foreign dominance and control of Ghana’s oil resources.

He attributed this to lack of unity not only in Ghana, but Africa as a whole.
