Pakistan, Sri Lanka hold talks to finalize Free Trade Agreement

COLOMBO (Sri Lanka) : The technical teams of Pakistan and Sri Lanka have held talks to finalize Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries.

The talks were held in a cordial atmosphere with the two sides demonstrating positive and constructive approach and were able to address all outstanding matters.

Pakistan delegation was led by Shahid Bashir, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce while S. Wirithamulla, Secretary Commerce and Consumer Affairs led the Sri Lankan side.

It may be recalled that during the recent meetings of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz with President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse, the leaders gave the political impetus to the process.

They had stressed the need for early conclusion of the FTA to further enhance bilateral trade to the mutual benefit of the two countries
