Pakistan, US agree to bilateral investment agreement

WASHINGTON: Pakistan and United States’ have agreed over a mutual investment agreement that will smoothen the way to talks for a Free Trade Agreement between the two countries.
After a meeting between Pakistan Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan and US Trade official Rob Portman in Washington a spokesperson Neena Morjani said the two sides have decided to boost efforts to finalize the mutual investment agreement.
The agreement will provide stability to Pakistan economy, new investment opportunities to the investors and will boost joint efforts against terrorism, spokesperson said.
Humayun Akhtar Khan talking with newsmen said President Bush’s next year possible visit to Pakistan will clear the path to signing the investment deal.
He said President Pervez Musharraf wants robust economic relations along with bilateral cooperation in the political field.
