PhRMA Statement on U.S. - Egypt Free Trade Agreement

Washington, D.C. - PhRMA President and Chief Executive Officer Billy
Tauzin issued the following statement today on a meeting with
Egyptian officials to discuss a U.S.-Egypt Free Trade agreement (FTA):
"PhRMA representatives met with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Trade and
Industry H.E. Rachid Mohamed Rachid and his accompanying delegation
during their visit to Washington, D.C. last week.
"PhRMA members emphasized to the Egyptian delegation the interest of
PhRMA and its members in building cooperation with the Egyptian
government and in promoting the negotiation and the implementation of
a comprehensive, high standard, commercially meaningful FTA,
particularly in the area of intellectual property rights. PhRMA
believes that a strong FTA is in the interests of Egyptian patients
as well as the business community and we look forward to working with
the Egyptian government toward that goal."
